Pictured below are some of our contented cows and their calves photographed in July 2007

Losing our sheep to the welfare scheme during the FMD epidemic in 2001, we decided to concentrate on our cattle and we chose the Simmental breed with which to establish our own herd with the herd name 'Manor Park'. As a breed we thought they would offer all we were looking for and it seems we were right!

Our strong and handsome cattle have a very gentle nature and are easy to handle. We've found them to calve easily and be very good mothers too.

We had bought our first three Simmental cows from the Whitemire herd at Duns and our first bull, from the local pedigree herd at Fishwick Mains. 'Fishwick Marksman'

Then in February 2005, at the sale in Perth, we were very pleased to acquire our stock bull, 'Ashland Perfect' for 8,200 guineas.

Pictured on the right are the twin calves he sired for us, 'Manor Park Tina' and 'Manor Park Tanith' born in the Spring of 2006 and reared with ease.

In 2008 we moved to The Dods at Lauder and the family and livestock have all settled well into our new home.

'Shanehill Victor' - (born: August 2007)

by 'Kilbride Farm Newry' out of 'Samark Bluebell'

At the Perth Pedigree Simmental Bull Sales in February 2009 we acquired the handsome overall and Intermediate Champion, Shanehill Victor, from Barry Chambers, Portadown, Craigavon, N. Ireland.

Shanehill Victor is another AI son of the famous Kilbride Farm Newry and out of Samark Bluebell, so he carries impressive growth and milk figures and we're sure he will make a very valuable contribution to the improvement of our Manor Park Simmental herd.

We are very pleased with the way we're building our herd and the progress we have made so far.

We exhibited some of our stock in 2007 with some small success and hope to attend more shows in 2009.

At the Highland Show in July this year we shall be exhibiting our new bull Shanehill Victor and our home bred heifer, Manor Park Tallulah (by Ashland Perfect) with her heifer calf by our stock bull Drumsleed Tartan at foot.

We all look forward to the future with enthusiasm as we further improve our 'Manor Park' Simmental herd.
